Remember what it is like to laugh, scream, and cry-out as you accelerate down a long, steep hill with a couple of friends hugging you through the cushion of coats and gloves? The bite of the cold air and the sting of the driving snow are paled by the rush of excitement that only comes once a year! I know you remember it… and that excitement was frozen on faces as each camper enjoyed Winter Blast 2012!

Thank you for the part that you played to make this experience possible for each camper! Lives were touched and changed! Some children placed their trust in Christ while others learned key ways to Face the Battle by putting on the full armor or God (Eph. 6:10-17). One camper put it this way:

“While I was at Camp Beechpoint I learned how to put on the full armor of God and live a Christian life… he (my teacher) let me dress up in the armor and help him in teaching and at the end I won a ball. My cabin also won first place in the Klondike Derby.

Please be blessed by what God is doing in the lives of the campers – through you!

From all of us who are now pleasantly warmed by the fire,

As always, the weekend will be filled with great winter fun like sledding, broomball, camp fines, night hikes, and winter gaga. We will also have games and demonstrations revolving around the medieval theme of knights and armor.

Dear Friends of Beechpoint,

God has given us clear direction and the Beechpoint Board of Directors has made a unanimous decision to commit to the purchase of the adjoining parcel of real estate! Thank you for your prayers and pledges of support!

Since the end of September, $51,000 has been pledged or given toward the project and “Friends of Beechpoint” are giving a $75,000 challenge grant. Every dollar given before July 31st, 2012, will be matched - up to $75,000! Please continue to pray that this opportunity will be completely funded by January 1st of 2013. Less than two months ago, we could not imagine how we could pursue the purchase of this property. It is exciting to see how God provides!

We sense that God’s timing has been amazing! Of course His timing is perfect! It is exciting to see. This ministry had been preparing to update our long range ministry and site plans for some time and had been taking steps in planning and preparing. Fifteen years ago a landscape architect assisted us in developing a master plan and he happened to “fit us in” for our update, as this opportunity presented itself. The planner was then in a position to evaluate and make recommendations on how to fit our ministry plans with the opportunities that this adjoining parcel would provide. Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to see your hand of provision.

Partnership with Opportunity 2012…

Please continue to pray with us through the completion of this project.

Please consider participating toward the matching grant.

Most importantly… please pray as we seek to share Christ’s Good News with more and more children each year!

Thanks and blessings,

Mark Davidhizar

Dear Friends of Beechpoint,

It has been exciting to see the enhancements that God has allowed—continuing to equip this ministry to assist in reaching the “Next Generation” for Christ. The PID Discipleship/Mentoring Program, Chicago Follow-up Director, Teen Leadership Program, exciting new retreats, excellent staff, Camp India Partnership, and the completion of the Lakeview Lodge, have all expanded the breadth and depth of Beechpoint’s outreach! Thank you for the part that you have played in reaching more children for Christ!

Fifteen years ago an adjoining parcel of land was identified through our long range site-planning process as an important component to future ministry growth and site integrity. The opportunity has come for us to consider the purchase of this 16 acre parcel and house. The owner is giving camp the first option to purchase this important piece before it is listed on the market.

I am contacting you because your past involvement shows that you would want to know, that you would want to pray, and that you may want to participate. Our neighbor has graciously allowed us until the end of October to make a decision on the purchase. Five percent of $225,000 (land and buildings) would be the required down payment with the balance due January 1st of 2013. Beechpoint’s Board is seeking to know God’s will through the support of His people. We are asking camp friends to give towards the down payment and/or pledge a donation (over the next twelve months) towards the purchase of the acreage. There is an urgency… Please let us know of your pledge by October 25th, so the camp board can be made aware of your support. The board will then confirm a decision before the November 1st deadline.

This opportunity is exciting because it provides space for possible program developments, cabin additions, ball fields, petting farm and horse pasture, winter sports area—and it includes a house that could be used as additional space to house guests, interns, summer staff, and offices. A very significant value to the property is that it would protect the current investments that have been made by acting as a ministry enhancement and as an invaluable buffer to future encroachment by outside development. We are excited!

I sense that God is providing this opportunity for us — Thank you for praying, caring and sharing.

Serving with you, Mark

After one morning Power Hour with the younger boys’ unit, a young camper sat down on the mat in front of me as the others were connecting with their cabin leaders and heading off to their next fun activity. Packing up my props and notes, I noticed the boy and asked him if I could help him – completely forgetting that during the middle of our lesson I had given an invitation for them to stay behind if they had further questions. “I want to accept Jesus as my Savior!” answered the ten-year-old. “Oh sure, I can help you with that!” I said a bit startled by my “senior moment” and profoundly encouraged by the Holy Spirit’s faithfulness.

Lives are changed at Camp! It’s not because of us, but by God using our obedience to his directive to GO into all the world and make disciples… teaching them to obey all that he as commanded us. ONE SENT was the theme of this year’s camps – culminating subsequent summers’ teaching of the creation to the cross and last year’s lessons on the life of Christ. Now the question was raised and answered, “How should one respond to God’s Good News?” As a significant part of this years learning, each camper was taught the importance of choices, obedience, and response. Every child was taught how to share the Gospel to their world (and beyond). Now, when God asks, “Whom shall I send?”… We trust all will respond in obedience – “Here am I, send me.”

We are so thankful for all who answered God’s call to Pray, Provide, Participate, Perspire, and now to Praise Him for what He has done this summer! Thirty-five young men and women (cabin and program leaders) lived and breathed loving service to the children! Scores of individuals provided scholarship assistance for over 90% of our campers. Hundreds gave their prayer, sweat and tears to enable Beechpoint to be used as a tool… a gathering point for those living as “one sent”.

Our praises include knowing that 98 children trusted Christ as Savior, 29 were compelled to renew their commitment of faith, 70 teens grew through service and leadership, and 40 young adults were able to see God’s hand work miracles! Please continue to pray as we anticipate God growing each young life! Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!

Here is what two campers had to say about their time at camp this summer:

“I did the go-carts and we went fishing. I went canoeing and on a paddleboat and pontoon. We have delicious food. We go swimming every day and I learned Jesus died for our sins.” - Maya, age 8

“I learned to be respectful and listen to my cabin leaders. I learned that obeying Christ has a big effect on life.” - Gerren, age 12

In 1963, Edward Lorenz presented a hypothesis to the New York Academy of Science. His theory, stated simply, was that: A butterfly could flap its wings and set molecules of air in motion, which would move other molecules of air, in turn moving more molecules of air eventually capable of starting a huge storm on the other side of the planet. Lorenz and his ideas were literally laughed out of the conference. What he had proposed was ridiculous. It was preposterous. But it was fascinating!
